This is how I did it !!

This page last updated: Tuesday, 01 June 1999

My web pages were created using Microsoft Windows 95, MS Word with Word Internet Assistant from MS Office 97. It is possible to create the web page using such software such as MS FrontPage 98 or something called Hot Metal Pro 3 (not recommended!) or even Webtricity. I dare say that these programmes would have made the whole business a lot easier and quicker and may have made the pages more professional looking; that's up to you to decide.

BTInternet were my Internet Service Provider who presently allows individual users up to 5mb of web space for your web pages.

I uploaded the files to my server at BTInternet using a File Transfer Protocol (or Programme) called Cute FTP, the software for which I downloaded from CuteFTP.com

The hardware, or rather my computer, is a very (well quite) old & slow 486 DX2 66, if you're patient enough, I'm sure you could probably do as good as or even better that I have. A 28.8bps or faster modem is desirable if not essential these days.

When I made my web pages, I created and saved all the files and pictures etc in one single folder, this makes finding the files to upload easier.

I think that's about it, if you have any queries, I'd be pleased to help in any way I can by answering any email questions you may have.

After you have built your web page and you're happy with its layout etc., you should then consider having it advertised on Search Engines such as Excite, Alta Vista, Infoseek, Web Crawler, Yahoo, and UK - Yellow Pages etc. using the services of a company like Submit-It. Please see below for the various links to the above. Also, you can use such services as Link Exchange to advertise your site on other peoples web sites (for free). As for search engines, the fastest one I've found so far is All theWeb.com
